Czechoslovakia: Moon Landing Airmail Stamp of 1969

Image of 1969 Moon Landing airmail stamp, C75

Postage stamp designs from Czechoslovakia are remarkable. The engraved astronaut with the open arms suggests a great event. There are some interesting aspects of this Moon Landing Airmail issue. First is the represetation of New York City under the astronaut. Why New York City? I am speculating now. In 1969, this is the American city airmail and passengers would probably enter if they were traveling from Czechoslovakia. Another point, the date of 21.7.1969 on the attachment. More common is July 20, 1969. Fact is, in Europe the date was July 21, 1969.
