United Nations stamps are rich in their symbols; UN airmail stamps are no exceptions. These stamps show the wings of birds as symbols of flight. In the case of the UN, the everpresent dove for peace is another possible interpretation of the symbol. This series of 4 stamps was first issued in 1951, and represent the first air mail issues from the United Nations Postal Admistration.
