The sunrise illuminates the peaks of the Grand Tetons first, while the base is still shaded and mist covers the lowlands of Grand Tetons National Park in Wyoming.

This stamp issue continues the tradition of denoting airmail stamps with the airliner icon near the denomination. The stamp issue is a self adhesive issue, and the stamp itself is a die-cut stamp for the perforation.
