Project Gemini, Two 5 cent stamps, Scott Catalog Nos. 1331 and 1332, Issued in 1967

The Project Gemini commemorative stamps were issued as an attached pair with the design such that it extends on both stamps, each with a portion, and each with its own denomination marks, in this case 5 cents each. When a pair of stamps are issued joined together, like the Gemini issue, it is called a se-tenant pair. The term comes from the French language meaning joined-together. Since project Gemini launched with two aswtronauts aboard, a pair of stamps in this issue was quite appropriate.

This beautiful stamp is a mult-colored engraved design showing the partially deployed solar panels and the special thermal shield brought up on the first manned flight.
