Six Cent Airmail Stamp of 1938: The Eagle (U.S.)

Image or picture the 1938 6 cent airmail stamp, red, white, blue design with eagle, C23

This stamp was issued on May 14, 1938. The bi-colored design is dramatic. The eagle with uplifted wings is a proud national symbol, as well as symbolizing flight. The choice of ink on white paper offers a red, white and blue patriotic design. The top legend in bold font says AIR MAIL to insure any letter is promptly routed for air service.

The bold and disctict design also aids the manual sorting/routing process at the time to insure the air mail received no delay while in a ground process.
