The Transports

This is one of my favorite air mail stamps. You can almost feel and hear the roar of its powerful engines as it carries its air mail cargo reliably and rapidly to its destination. The aircraft pictured appears very realistic, yet corresponds to no actual plane. It is, rather a composite of several planes of the period. This fine engraved stamp symbolizes power and reliability.

In fact, a book has been written on this series of stamps. Check out The Transports by G.H. Davis.

This, the 6 cent stamp is the smallest denomination of this series.

The cancellation on the 20 cent stamp encourages the recipient to buy war bonds and stamps. This is a clear reminder that this series of airmail stamps were used during World War II.
