U.N. Air Mail Stamp: Flight Into Outer Space

This remarkable design was issued in 1963, at the dawn of the Space Age. The futuristic jet/rocket trail travels upward into Outer Space, symbolized by star clusters and a spiral galaxy. Although spiral galaxies have been known from early in the century, there are few stamp designs like this, the imagery is ahead of its time.
