The Faroes Islands located midway between Norway and Iceland, just northwest of Scotland. The islands are bathed by the North Atlantic Gulf Stream, and enjoy a comfortable climate with abundant fishing, and birds. The Faroes have about 46,000 residence, so this is a very small island country. The economy of the Faroes is based on fishing, Due to this, and its status as having very small land area, the Faroe Islands will certainly feel the effects of global climate change, and it may have a serious impact on islander’s lives. In 2009, the Faroe Islands became among the first countries to issue a set of postage stamps to warn of global climate change, and to speak out for the islanders against global warming. This set of two stamps was issued on February 23, 2009
To date, there are not many postage stamps warning of the problems of Global Warming. The Faroe Islands needs to be in touch with Climate Reality for geographic and economic reasons, in addition to basic care of our planet.
